Sustainability
The paper packaging is inspired by origami and is able to hold its own form without any glue, reducing the materials required to produce it. It is also made without any lamination so it can be easily recycled. Typically, some paper packaging is laminated with a thin polypropylene film for design purposes and to protect it further, however, this can pose challenges during recycling.

The tissue is printed on FSC-certified, acid-free paper using soy ink, leaving no petroleum-based products when decomposing. Packages are delivered in either a compostable mailer or a simple corrugated box that is easily recyclable and protected with honeycomb kraft paper or reused bubble wrap.

Whenever possible, gentle mood purchases their ingredients such as clays, oils and cocoa butter from bulk stores and bring their own containers to avoid waste. They also review whether the brands they purchase the ingredients from are part of PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies Cruelty-Free Program, whenever necessary.

One bar soap has 10x less carbon footprint than a bottle of liquid soap due to extra synthetic ingredients contained by liquid soap that are relatively energy-intensive. The synthetics or toxic ingredients used in liquid soap require more wastewater treatment than bar soap. Bar soaps are also much lighter and cost-efficient to transport and hence, require lesser energy.
